Wow, wow, wow - just take a look at these - Important pair of Terra Cotta Foo Dogs are from the early 20th Century. Wonderful profile. Great faces! They were purchased from a New York Estate. The foo (Fu) dog in feng shui is a symbol of protection when used in pairs outside or inside of a front door. Known as the Imperial Guardian Lions. Carved wooden stands are included. These are fabulous!
Often used as the gable end supporting roof tiles near the home/temple entrance. Asian, Chinese, Chinoiserie. The Terra Cotta foo dogs are glazed in the color Ochre with accents of dark green.
