There are also two tiny, barely detectable black dots on the cushion which may be able to be cleaned, but I did not want to scrub it as a non-professional. Since this material was original to the piece and could possibly be repaired by an upholsterer, the original material was left intact instead of being reupholstered. This Brass Bamboo / Cobalt Blue Leather stool is a rare and authentic Maison Baguès piece. This exquisite vanity stool came out of a Memphis, TN estate, owned by connoisseurs of fine art and decorative furnishings. True Maison Baguès pieces were never signed or labeled, therefore the provenance lies in the piece itself as well as its background.
This 14" wide x 17" high stool is heavy, solid bronze. It was hand made by the companies artificers, and shows tool-marks and slight variations in all of the knots in the bronze bamboo. All of the legs and it’s two circular levels at top are accented with alternating splits in the bamboo. Even the back of the legs and the circular rings have these knots which is consistent with the brand.
The cushion is solid blue leather. It has a defect in the top piping (please see pictures). There are also a few tiny, barely detectable black dots on the cushion which may be able to be cleaned, but I did not want to scrub it as a non-professional. Since this material was original to the piece and could possibly be repaired by an upholsterer, the original material was left intact instead of being reupholstered. Otherwise, it has a beautiful vibrant color and is in excellent condition.
