An outstanding porcelain set of 19 pieces - 10 Shell-Form dishes and 9 individual syrup boats in a matching shell form
Most likely intended to serve a sweet dessert, though the individual boats could be used for other sauces or gravies as well
Hand painted with colorful floral sprays ornamentation. Each bouquet is unique and differs from the others, outlined and accented with fine gold trim
Made by Samson of Paris. The firm of Samson et Cie, was founded in 1845 by Edme Samson (1810-1891) originally specializing in the production of good quality copies of porcelain pieces in museums and renowned private collections. The firm did not set out to pass off the reproductions as originals, as they were distinctly marked with the Samson mark, and also sometimes with the mark of the factory that was being reproduced. Some of the reproductions were of such high quality they have been mistaken for, or passed off as being originals of the copied factory. Chelsea, Meissen, Sevres, Worcester, Derby, and Chinese Export porcelain are some of the wares that have been replicated. Edme's son Emile Samson (1837-1913) joined the family business when it moved to larger premises outside of Paris in the 1860's
The presented here set resembles the 1700's Meissen exuberantly painted flowers “Deutsche Blumen” style that took hold in the mid-18th century
Likely the set was made for the Russian market as the cups have a very Kovsh-like shape

Measurements: The cups are approximately 3.5" tall x 4.5" x 2.5"; the saucers are 5.5" x 4.75" x 1.5"
