A lovely piece with a form that is rich in history with a traditional silhouette and handsome silver plate with inverted transparent bowl on the inside.
Made in New York by Oneida, USA.
Trademark at the base, Paul Revere Reproduction, ONEIDA, USA.
Bowls in this shape are often referred to as “Paul Revere” or “Liberty” bowls. In 1767 the Sons of Liberty commissioned fellow member (and silversmith) Paul Revere to create a piece that honored the ninety-two members of the Massachusetts House of Representatives who refused to rescind a letter sent throughout the colonies protesting the Townshends Act.
From that point onwards, bowls in this shape became referred to as a Paul Revere bowl in honor of his piece created for the Sons of Liberty. ~
In very good vintage condition with some scratches to the plastic bowl, the Silver Plate bowl is in almost new condition as documented in the pictures.
