Seats are a solid piece of carved wood. Wood is believed to be ash, birch or antique pine. He was known to use all 3. Each chair, though unique to one another, are meant as a pair. Notice the stretchers as one chair has a stretcher at all 4 sides and one chair has 2 stretchers with a center piece. A maker's mark to one chair reads Erik Bolin P.S.LA (Paris, Sweden, Los Angeles) He was known for his primitive handmade pieces collected by the Hollywood elite. This pair would be a perfect compliment to a modern interior as well as a shaker primitive interior. When you are this handsome, you most likely will fit in wherever.
