For your consideration we are offering for sale this beautiful Vintage impressionist cove landscape abstract painting by listed artist GEOFFREY SMITH C,1983. Titled " APRIL COVE SILENCE" Signed lower left side also on the back. Created with oils on Masonite, It has been mounted in a silver finish wooden frame with a hanging wire attached to the reverse side.

GEOFFREY L. SMITH
FRAMINGHAM - Geoffrey L. Smith , formerly of Framingham, has been awarded first prize at the fourth annual National Exhibition held at the Ellsworth Gallery in Simsbury , Conn.
Smith 's oil painting , entitled " Skaket Beach " , was selected from over 500 works of art submitted to the exhibit. In addition to the three top awards ,11 awards of excellence and three awards of honorable mention were presented. The selection jury was comprised of notable American artists, including Don Stone, chairman of the National Academy of the arts;
This was the first time Smith had participated in the event.
Smith , a graduated of Framingham North High School and the University of New Hampshire , taught at Framingham North , but left that position in 1978 to devote full attention to his art.
In December of 1978, he and his wife, Rebecca, purchased the Aries East Gallery in Brewster on Cape Cod, where he showcases his work as well as that of other artists.
SMITH began exhibiting at the age of 15 at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln at age 19, he became a member of the copley society of art in Boston, due largely to his portrait of the late sen. Robert F. Kennedy, which was later considered for a commemorative stamp. In 1973, Smith's oil painting " Eat a Peach " won the Prix-de- Paris in New York City and was exhibited on loan in Paris , France.
Smith's work is represented in many public and private collection in the United States , Canada and Japan. less
