This is a rare Syroco Burwood Wall Clock from the 1980s. It features Barley twist sides with Jacobean style accents and finials. The face is a colorful yellow and blue panel in the Gothic style. There were several American companies that revolutionized the wall sculpture decor industry in the Mid Century as compression mold technology was perfected. Syroco, Burwood, Dart Industries and Homco were all at one time competitors and eventually became merged under various ownership. Once merged, they all shared and used each others’ molds. Most clocks produced were by Syroco. This clock is by Burwood and has the print stamped makers mark dating it after the 1960s, when marks were impressed into the plastic. By the 1970s, most of these companies had sold, merged and closed. Burwood was one of the last to survive and introduced clocks, in the manner if Syroco, late in their history in hopes of creating a new revenue stream to sustain the company. Unfortunately, it closed its doors in 1997.
