This creation was inspired by a heady mix of family, fortune, dreams and doodling.
I've taken a solid steel table, with a hideous, nearly indestructible, laminate top, courteous of our US modern educational system, stripped it down, etched its topside & polished it, while adding a few, utilitarian details, transforming it into, a far cooler, Industrial style, artist/creative work table, in which you can; take notes, jot down ideas, brainstorm & outline actions, produce ‘rough drawings’ or just doodle, to your hearts content.
If you’ve spent any time in the American Educational Public School system, whether you attended an arts class, auto shop or science lab, then you’ve served time, at one of these tables.
Don’t let the skinny legs fool you. This is one SOLID, cold-rolled, steel table, with underside, lateral channel supports and solid steel drop bar legs. You could couples-dance, drop a 6-cylinder engine or weld tractor parts, on it & it will take like a workbench.
Transformative Work Performed-
After chipping off the faux wood laminate top, I sand, starting with 150 grit dry and finishing with 800 wet, giving it’s top & sides a beautiful brushed silver finish, with inspired design patterns, around the inevitable, softened gouges, left from their previous decades of service. Don’t view these marks as flaws. I leave these ‘beauty marks’ as testament to their 50 years of service. I know, if I had spent half a century in High School, I’d have more than a few scars, to show for it. I also applied;
- a clear coat, to protect the surface from moisture, rust & stains.
- a 51/2 foot stained wood paper roll holder with rubber knob release and paper keeper
(placed far enough away that you won't knock knees on it)
- two table length flat steel paper guides; for both securing a clean sheet & for making a clean tear of your previous masterpiece.
- a bottle opener at right hand side
- includes one partial roll of heavy-weight quality signage paper.
Delivery to areas beyond, is possible for a negotiable fee, to be agreed upon by both parties.
