Charming details on this wood and gesso polychrome 18th Century Spanish Colonial santo image of Saint Dominic. The artist in Colonial Mexico gave the saint rosy cheeks. Dominic, a Spaniard, founded the religious Order of Preachers (better known today as Dominicans). The image is 8.5 h 2.75 w 1.75 d.
10 percent of proceeds from sale of this and other items of religious art in the Lucía Landa Collection will be donated to provide scholarships to Our Lady of Guadalupe School, a K-8 school in Ferguson, Missouri, primarily serving Black and Hispanic children and families.
