This is so old and beautiful, I wouldn’t dare try to repair the cracks or do anything to prevent further loss of mother of pearl. It would be beneficial to have this professionally done at some point. less

An early micro, inlaid mother of pearl box, depicting men on horseback, village, birds, and flowers. This extremely detailed oriental box is in good condition and measures 5.5 inches tall by 13 inches long by 8 inches deep. Just beautiful!
The box is obviously hand made and quite old. Notice the slightly irregular angles. The exact age is unknown. The person I got this from at the auction guessed early 1800s but he said he was not the antique expert and appraiser, he wasn’t the appraiser who called this an “Early micro inlaid mother of pearl box”.
You can see that some small bits of mother of pearl have come out in places. There is a crack in the wood on the top. The wood is also separating from two sides on the bottom. If you want more pictures let me know. I am happy to send more. This is such a beautiful box. There are times when I take four pictures of something I’m posting and I feel like they all look the same and four is plenty. In this case, I could’ve included twice as many photos and still wanted to post more because there’s so much beautiful detail.
MY GUARANTEE IS THAT I WILL BE HONEST ABOUT MY ITEMS AND FAIR WITH MY PRICING.
There are three steps involved in pricing for me.
1. Use an app called Google Lens to take a photo of any item. It will bring up similar items and how much they sell/sold for. This is also helpful in figuring out what to call or how to describe the item.
2. Do a Google search for the name of the item.
3. Do a search for the item by name on Chairish and another similar site.
Since I am being fair with my pricing I want you to know these steps. It will only help me by validating my pricing choices, and I hope it will help you to recognize items that are overpriced.
Feel free to ask me any questions and make an offer.
I have many more items to post, so please check back sometime.
Thank you!
