- Beautiful Gold Gilded Mirror from the early 1800's that has tons of history. The mirror itself is huge ith the … more Beautiful Gold Gilded Mirror from the early 1800's that has tons of history. The mirror itself is huge ith the whole piece measuring in at 61"L x 4"W x 80"H. It is Gold Gilded all around but im not sure if it is the original finish on it. Everything on it is wood and expertly hand carved. The more you zoom in the more details you will find, from he bottom supports up to the large protruding headboard. All of the wood is very solid and the mirror isnt a light one. It has a wire hanger in the back to allow for a wall display but can also fucntion on the floor leaning onto the wall. There are some small flaws from age including minor chips and touchups but ovverall its in remarkable shape. This Mirror comes with a great history, having been in a Historic Local Home for roughly two decades. This Cabinet came from one of the largest and oldest homes in Englishtown New Jersey (Settled 1675). The Home is the "Moses Laird House" which Housed General George Washington as a honored guest the night of June 29th,1778 (The day after the succesful victory at The Battle of Monmouth). Although this piece was not in the house during his stay, it still has a very long history with the Historic Home. It was Even featured in "the Asbury park Sunday Press" on September 14th, 1969. At this time the House was Known as the "Carr House" and was being documented for its beauty and history. less
