Extra large scale oil painting on canvas, signed by artist Jean-Claude Bourgeois (French, B.1932) near bottom right corner circa 1970's. Painting depicts a large group of people making a trip up a winter mountain. Painting has been authenticated by Jean-Claude's son, Bertrand Bourgeois.

**Born in Paris in 1932, the painter Jean-Claude Bourgeois spent much of his life in Franche-Comté in the country of Gustave Courbet. He attended the School of Fine Arts in Besançon. From 1957, he was noticed by art critics Georges Besson, Raymond Cogniat, Guy Dornand, and encouraged by Marcel Aymé. Jean-Claude Bourgeois was part of the Young Painting Movement (1949-1961). A member of the main Parisian Salons; he exhibited regularly in Paris beginning in 1957, and in Besançon since 1960. The Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris and many provincial and foreign museums have purchased several of his works. less
