Description: Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a light gold and ecru, silk brocade in … more Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a light gold and ecru, silk brocade in a floral vines pattern, signed, with a poem in Caoshu script and with numerous red seal marks in various sizes and shapes scattered about the image. The image size is 25.125" wide x 50" high. With a black silk kakio and makio at the top and mahogany jikusaki at the bottom. The cover is a light gold raw silk. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.

At the left foreground, A mountain hermitage sits on a flat, grassy field, covered in groves of trees, pines and shrubs. Bounded by rocky banks covered in trees and pines, a river is fed by the cascading waterfall at the right, and passes under a footbridge. Soaring, forested precipices and plateaus, amid numerous, lofty mountain peaks fade into the distance in traditional Chinese aerial perspective. less
