A slot for coins on the side
On the underside is stamped in blue with the words "AUSTRIA - HOUSE / IN WHICH ABRAHAM LINCOLN WAS BORN - VAN DYK TEAS OUR OWN STORES EVERYWHERE." There is also a rhombus stamp with VD
During the early 1900's James Van Dyk ran a chain of tea and coffee stores in various locations from Barclay Street in Manhattan. Advertising memorabilia is found with addresses in different states. The Van Dyk company is transferred through generations since the 18th century
