Signed "Mireille Piazzoni Wood" lower right and titled "Ranch Hills" lower left and on verso. Born in San Francisco, CA in 1911, Mireille was first taught to paint by her father Gottardo Piazzoni considered to be the father of California Impressionism. She later attended the California School of Fine Arts for four years under Macky, Albright, Randolph, and Stackpole. In 1937 she wed artist Philip R. Wood. She was a lifelong resident of San Francisco. Her style was influenced by the Post-Impressionists with Fauvist reflections. less
