This antique Chinese sign panel was originally framed and probably given as a wedding or anniversary gift. It has an old Chinese "saying" having to do with well wishes regarding hopes for a large number of children.... Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagaries of the old Chinese language, accurate translations are not always possible.
The sign is carved out of wood with raised wooden calligraphy characters and inlayed with MOP flakes. It is 21 inches tall and roughly 4.5 inches wide.
