This listing is for an exquisite French empire mantel clock.
This clock was made in 1827 and is of the highest quality.
The case is made from green marble and gilt bronze, featuring a statue of a seated scholar.
This clock is incredible.
The movement is by Pierre-César Honoré Pons.
Pons (1773-1851) was an important clock-maker, who was active in Paris from 1807-50.
Pons was trained by the royal clockmaker to King Louis XVI, Antide Janvier.
This clock is abnormally large. It measures 28.5 x 11.75 x 31.5 inches

This clock has been well cared for. There are some minor signs of normal wear and age, such as a few minor chips. It appears that there was once an ornamental piece on the right side of the clock that has gone missing over the years. However, none of these are very visible. The clock is breathtaking regardless. The movement was last serviced in 2018. It ran when recently tested. Please note that any mechanical clock that is shipped might require adjustments upon arrival, and thus time accuracy cannot be guaranteed. less
