This distinctive pair of brilliantly colored lead crystal cordial (liqueur) glasses from Germany were hand-crafted by the nearly two century old luxury German glassware maker Nachtmann Bavarian Crystal. The Traube pattern glasses have stems and bases of clear crystal and bowls artfully fashioned of colored glass cut into clear glass in a design of grapes, grape leaves, stars and fans Size is 4.5 inches tall and 1.75 inches wide at the base.
Traube was irst introduced in clear glass more than 75 years ago with colored versions like these following later ad becoming specially popular. Although Nachtmann continues to produce this pattern in hock wines and tumblers, other styles were retired making these vintage cordials from the collection ever more sought after. Some collectors collect multiple colors, making for a versatile and colorful presentation.
Dated to the early 1960's, this pair consists of ONE Amber colored glass AND ONE Cobalt Blue colored glass.
What a beautiful way to serve liqueur .... and a wonderful addition to a collection of vintage glassware and barware!
History of the maker: Nachtmann Crystal AG was founded in the Bavarian Forest in 1834 as an affordable luxury glassware maker, and relocated to Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Germany in 1900. Since 2004, it has belonged to the Riedel family of brands, although it has continued to operate independently since then. less
