This hand carved wooden chest is covered with Symbolic iconography. Throughout the chest we find many classic icons for example on the cover we find: the fleur de lis, random triangles (throughout the chest), the large open heart with a "mosaic" or grid pattern, snakes (believed to represent the ever presence of temptation), and what appears to be the acacia flower (representing the hope of immortality that ties all religions together). Around the chest on all side you see either a bee or owl, more acacia blooms, a sword pointing towards the open heart, a double "X" or stylized compass with a leaf design in the center, two flags. On the lid, under the fleur de lis we find what we believe to be the owner's initials "WWM". We love this item for it's folk art appeal and think it would make a wonderful statement piece. Minor wear to the finish with a couple chips of the wood but we would still consider this in excellent condition. This piece was found at auction in NW Michigan and is structurally sturdy. The latch to hold the cover open is included in the chest but is not attached. Dimensions: 15.5" tall x 36" wide x 15" deep. Please review the photographs to see the condition details up close.
Our goal is to have your experience with us be a positive one. Therefore it is important to us that you get a clear understanding of what you are considering before you purchase. All of our pieces are well-loved and show signs of wear that comes along with aged items. Please feel free to ask questions as we are happy to provide any additional information you may need. less
