A stoneware vase from La Société Denert et Balichon, known as Denbac Pottery of Vierzon, France, dating circa 1930s. Denbac's sophisticated grès flammés (flamed sandstone) art pottery glazes are unique to every piece and this vessel is decorated with an artistic semi-matte drip glaze in shades of dark chocolate brown accented with light gray over a speckled blue-green ground.
The diminutive vase is in very good condition and bears a printed "Denbac" mark alongside form number 18 on the base. The vessel measuries 5.5 in. height x 3.13 in. diameter (at widest) x 1.63 in diameter (at rim).
Denbac is the brand name for the Denert and Balichon Company of Vierzon in central France. The Denbac name is a contraction of the partners surnames, ceramist René Denert and manager René-Louis Balichon.
