A very fine and original French 19th century Louis XV bronze mounted kingwood and walnut bureau plat. The writing desk has serpentine shape gilt banding around the top surface, three horizontal frieze drawers in the apron with foliate bronze trim, the reverse with three simulated drawers of conforming design, supported on slight cabriole legs mounted with foliate bronze trim at the knee continuing to chutes terminating with foliate cast sabots. The shaped rectangular top is inset with a tooled leather writing panel and fitted with three drawers inset with brass.
