Classic and modern Italian pocket emptier/ashtray made of white porcelain and black rim; to make the object a hand mold was used so as to obtain the traditional shape with flared rim (shape used by Hermes, Fabergè, and other big names)) then a first firing of the fine white porcelain was made; at this point, using the "transferware" method, the design in black of the two elephants was applied to the bottom, then a black color was spread over the entire border; the border wire and the inner corners were finished with pure gold; to finish on the object, a transparent glaze was applied and the final firing was done... "Transferware" refers to porcelain that was glazed and decorated with a specific treatment that was produced in Staffordshire England; artisans used copper plates on which they engraved the design, then the copper plate was inked and the design transferred to a special fabric and later placed on the porcelain (in plates, tureens, vases, etc.) then the objects were glazed and fired; it is a method that is used, with a few modifications, even in modern times. Our pocket/ashtray emptier was produced in 2010 in a workshop of young artists in the province of Florence who dubbed themselves "Italian Artisans"; they wanted to specialize in the production of fine white porcelain objects decorated by hand with transferware with simple but elegant designs (animals, ancient statues, abstract objects, etc.) created entirely by the artisans themselves, finished with great care and impeccable precision, with precise and calibrated kiln firings to ensure durability. Our pocket emptier/ashtray, a classic specimen with a modern twist, expresses great decorative elegance, is a perfect accessory, a sought-after gift, and a sophisticated, seductive, and exclusive piece. Measures width cm.20, depth cm.16, height cm.3. The item is in excellent condition. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
