Open your eyes. 2022. Oil on canvas 130x130 cm “ilze laizane finds inspiration in medieval and renaissance art and the ideas of symbolism in particular. Painting bodies of animal and people one over the other forms transparent layers, coming out as a rhythm and effect of illusory space”[1] perhaps the symbolism of the images of the past surprises and tempts us, because we have not experienced those times - the images inspire us, refresh the entanglements of the 21st century technocratic society and focus attention on the power that is still with us, but in a different form. This power, embodied by the artist ilze laizāne, appeals intermediate - in the latest cycle of paintings, viewpoints and gazes are captured, both inwardly and outwardly. The viewer will always be the viewer, and this time the language of colors and shapes gives us an opportunity to look into the play of the woman as princess. The artist's message is luxurious and open, there is a sense of saturation, veiling and reflection, which often through questions allows us to get closer to the moment when the eyes will move away from the phone screens to find other values.
