The earthenware of seals was born in the middle of the 18th century. She will adopt the ceramic modes of her time, in particular the rocky style and the decor in small fire imitating porcelain. The earthenware of Sceaux comes out of common earthenware, fine earthenware and tender porcelain. There are both quality dishes and decorative objects. The earthenware paste of seals takes on a chamois pink shade. It is covered with a milky and very shiny white enamel imitating porcelain. High quality production aims to compete with the tender porcelain of Vincennes, future porcelain of Sèvres, only having the privilege of producing porcelain. Many seal painters then came from the Sèvres factory. We find the very high quality decor, in particular the flowers and bouquets in the style of Strasbourg, the landscapes of François Boucher, the country scenes, the birds of jarry, the animals, etc.

The decor is close to those of Mennecy and Bourg-la-Reine.
A pretty Louis XVI style frieze, all of the 19th century time with a "seals" marking, a cross and number 38 can be that of the painter.

No point on the top but we think of money.

Note friction and wear on gilding and mounts, small black dots in earthenware, on a feet, two gaps on the friezes visible in the photos.
