Vintage crystal art glass vase by Göran Wärff for Kosta 1970s A vintage art glass vase designed by Göran Wärff and manufactured by Kosta Glasbruk ca. 1970s. Made of thick handblown crystal glass with green and blue glass layers. The outside is structured like ice glass on the base. The vase is marked with company sticker. A classical example of the Scandinavian art glass of the 1970s.
Göran Wärff (1933-2022) is considered an old wise counselor of Swedish artglass design. After his education in Germany, he went to Sweden with his wife and worked first for Pukeberg Glassworks and then for Kosta. Influenced by the Bauhaus school and the creative freedom their clients gave them they received the prestigious Lunning Prize for their work in 1968. After their divorce in 1972, Göran Wärff took up teaching positions in Australia and England. The forest- and water-rich natural impressions of Sweden were reflected in Wärff´s art works for Kosta Boda since 1984. Measures: Height: 5.51" (14 cm) Diameter: 4.13" (10.5 cm)
