This Lowell Nesbitt rare vintage 1976 fine art lithograph print " Yellow Tulip " Modernist Palm Beach exhibition poster is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist exhibition poster print is published by the famous Hokin Gallery Inc. Palm Beach, Florida. Printed in 1976 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork image created by Nesbitt titled " Yellow Tulip ".
Lowell Blair Nesbitt ( 1933 - 1993 ) was an American painter, draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor. He is best known for his vivid and dramatic paintings of flowers, characterized by their monumental scale and sensual Realism. Often depicted in close-up their petals seemed to fill the canvases. In the 1980's The US Postal Service honored Nesbitt by issuing four stamps based on his floral paintings. Artworks by Nesbitt are included in the collections of many of the most prestigious museums including The Museum of Modern Art New York, The National Gallery of Art Washington D.C., and The Art Institute of Chicago, among many others.
In the early 1970's there were five art galleries for every grocery store in the exclusive Florida resort town of Palm Beach. During this period in time the town's fine art fixation became a major destination for international art collectors. Palm Beach's many galleries were somewhat specialized. The famous Hokin Gallery became known for featuring internationally known Modern artists including Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, and Victor Vasarely among others.
The rare out of print Modernist exhibition poster measures 24" W X 35 1/2" H. It is printed on high quality premium fine art paper stock with a matte finish.
It is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed.
