A very fine early 18th century French Louis XV commode "forme galbée" or bombe/serpentine embellished with extraordinary, original ormolu mounts and fixtures throughout. Both sides are bombe shaped as well with beautifully detailed inlay work.
Original marble top, locks and key.
The body is composed of three large drawers and mounted atop shaped sabre feet. Extraordinary decorations throughout that feature horses and seashell shaped bronze. This magnificent commode is made of rosewood, walnut and mahogany woods.
Dating from the early-18th century this piece exemplifies French craftsmanship. The original marble top is very unique in color with green, gray and red hues.
The commode has recently been restored and refinished using the traditional French polish technique.
