Warm and inviting with rustic sensibility, this hand-knotted wool Distressed antique Persian Tabriz rug beautifully embodies a Modern Industrial style. The lovingly time-worn field features a hexagonal concentric medallion patterned with an all-over Herati pattern. The Classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. Immersed in ancient Persian history, this antique Tabriz rug is full of symbolism. Hexagons with their six sides represent a symbol of perfect union as hexagons are created from equal parts and the energetic emblem of soulful integration. A hexagon is the shape that most efficiently breaks flat space up into little units. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moon's reflection. Strongly defined Herati motifs the central medallion while complementing the same design appearing throughout in the detailed spandrels. Bespeaking age and history, this lovingly time-worn Persian rug is the perfect complement to interiors with similar richness and rustic vibes including natural wood furnished chalets, estates, cottages, and mountainside abodes as found in Colorado, Lake Tahoe, or the Adirondacks.
