This fabulous antique 1900s-1920s Favorite hand-painted cake plate, serving dish or display plate is created in a gorgeous white porcelain and painted with hops, in varied greens and faint rose. During the early 20th century, stylist women would have dish painting parties, which were used to enhance their tea service. Favorite Bavaria is a stamp used in 1916 and made the white blanks, which were purchased, then hand painted, either by individuals or one known studio, Jacob H Stouffer, Illinois. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Diameter=9 inches. This marvelous plate is in excellent antique condition, free from chips, cracks or other imperfections. It is the perfect addition to your china set, particularly if you like elegant, Art Nouveau designs!
"Favorite Bavaria" was a mark used by the well known C. Hutschenreuther company in Bavaria, Germany.
It was used as a special export mark for the US market (note the American spelling of the word 'favorite' which is different to the traditional spelling of the the British and British domiciles - 'favourite').
The US based importers of these wares were the Burley & Tyrrell Co of Chicago, Illinois.
It is registered that a decorating studio by the name of Jacob H. Stouffer from Adeline, Illinois was taking whiteware with a "Favorite China" back stamp and decorating it in the US. His studio, based in Chicago was in operation from 1905 - 1952. Stouffer was known to employ some of the best decorators and artisans of the time.Favo less
