This vintage 5x10 Persian Kilim is a tribal rug from Meshkin—a small northwestern village known for its fabulous long rugs like this gallery rug. Handwoven in wool, it originates circa 1950-1960.
Further on the Design:
This design uses traditional colors in a subtly atypical way with wide stripes in the field and a meandering border alike. Brick and burgundy red, rust orange, beige and brown make up the autumnal colorway and lend a rich and warm presence underfoot. The play of stripes and their color variations creates a natural sense of movement that exemplifies Northwest Persian Kilims of this size and sensibility.
Further on the Condition:
This mid-century tribal flat weave further enjoys good condition for its age, and is ready for the floor.
