A stunning French 1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. The beautiful mounting of excellent quality holds four globes in clear frosted moulded-pressed glass. These shades have a diameter of about 15 cm. Louis Vandamme had a large manufactory producing bronze and wrought iron lighting during the interbellum in Paris (at 16 rue Popincourt). His bronze pieces are of excellent quality. The chandelier is represented in the 13th edition of the Vandamme product catalog issued in 1932.
The chandelier is in excellent condition. The glass globes are unsigned. This model exists in a signed version as well. Those Cherrier et Besnus signed ones were specially made for the lighting firm Cherrier. The unsigned ones were sold to other lamp producers like in this case Louis Vandamme. If you would completely demount the fixture you would find the usual L.Vandamme foundry marks VL on numerous cast parts. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mount. The chandelier has a height of 79 cm (31,1 inches). And it's 58 cm wide (22,83"). It is rewired with American candelabra base sockets.
