VERRERIES DES HANOTS
A large 1930 French art deco chandelier in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding six shades … more VERRERIES DES HANOTS
A large 1930 French art deco chandelier in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding six shades in molded-pressed glass by the glass manufactory Verreries des Hanots. The mounting is done in the typical more modernist style of the 30s like we know of Petitot Charles Ranc and many others. I could not find out which lighting manufacturer made these mounts. I have a second version of this model listed in another ad: a down light chandelier with six Degué shades.
The nice amber colored Hanots shades are all signed. The pattern is referred to in the old Holophane (Verlys & Hanots) catalogs as Les Losanges. The bowls plates and centerpieces done in this pattern were signed Verlys France. The shades and cups for lighting were signed Hanots.
Holophane was a large company producing industrial glasses in high volumes, During the interbellum until around 1938 they made high quality lamp shades under the name of Verreries des Hanots and vases and sculptures with their brand name Verlys. Most shades of Hanots are unsigned and therefor unknown to a larger public but of the large French glass manufactories during the art deco era (Muller freres, Degue, Schneider) the quality of des Hanots shades is outstanding. The chandelier on offer is in excellent condition. It is 80 cm high (31-1/2"). I could shorten the chain... the minimum height possible would be 68 cm (26-3/4").
It is 66,5cm (26-3/16 inches) wide and the Hanots cups have a diameter of 16 cm. One cup has a molding irregularity. Some traces of amber pigment inside the glass (see last picture). The heavy mounting is re-nickeled and patinated. It is rewired with six American candelabra base sockets.
The chandelier will be shipped in several parcels. I must partially demount the fixture to make it fit the maximum size box regular post allows.
FREE SHIPPING OFFERED.
As professional restorer of French Art Deco lighting with 20 years of experience as online seller I guarantee safe packaging with the glass shades well protected.
