Clearly an educated, assured hand is seen here in … more A fine Impressionist Venetian painting by French artist, Marie Louguinine-Walkonsky (1875-1960). Clearly an educated, assured hand is seen here in the wonderful oil paint on canvas of a Venetian lagoon. In the distance is a colorful wall of tiered building facades and the busy gondoliers going to and fro. Vibrant pigments and great handling of reflective light of the water on the terraced buildings.The piece is signed lower right and dated, M Walkonsky, 1921.

Good overall condition with some wear around the tacked edge of the canvas. Some fraying and losses to the edge. There is a combination of old European tacks and staples to secure the canvas to the wood stretcher. The surface paint is in good sound condition with no visible flacking. Could use a light cleaning. Possible old restoration on the reverse where the sky would be on the front of the painting.

Overall approximate dimensions are 26" wide x .75" deep x 19.63" high. The piece is unframed less
