John Hammond
Born in 1961, John Hammond graduated from Bath Academy of Art aged twenty two. Although early in his career he concentrated on watercolor painting, he has now taken the medium of acrylic and made it his own. Exploiting the control he has over its drying time allows him to build up a picture surface made up of the richest impasto marks and the most subtle of glazes. Grounded on strong draughtsmanship, Hammond s works have a strength and structure, but are primarily painterly celebrations of luminosity and color.
