The right side of the table is equipped with two side-opening small drawers, which are lined with dark blue brocade fabric. A white, gray-veined marble slab with a partially encircling, openwork brass gallery serves as the upper end. A small table by charles topino (ca. 1742-1803, master 1773) is known, which has the identical shape with the characteristic side swinging drawers: charles topino worked for a few years as an independent craftsman before he received his master's degree in 1773. From 1757 charles topino worked in the rue du faubourg-saint-antoine and became well known for his marquetry in the form of detailed still lifes and floral decorations. In addition to members of the french aristocracy, topino mainly supplied the marchand-merciers and marchand-ébénistes, working in particular with héricourt, dautriche, migeon, denizot, moreau, delorme, tuart, joubert and boudin. In 1782 topino was elected député of his guild. Topino specialized in the manufacture of small pieces of furniture such as small tables, chiffonnières and bonheurs-du-jours, but excellent chests of drawers and bureaus in both the transition and louis xvi styles are also attributed to him. Parts of his work are in the rothschild collection at waddesdon manor, buckinghamshire, the musées des arts décoratifs, du louvre, nissim-de-camondo in paris, lambinet versailles, château champs-sur-marne, rouen, ephrussi in saint- jean-cap-ferrat and at the cincinnati art museum. Condition: very good, minor signs of age and wear, minor abrasion, shellac polish refreshed, marble slab with old and professionally executed restoration - detailed condition report on request less
