Wonderful lamp of the German label Peill & Putzler. Made with folded vitreous paste, outside in green and oranges, millefiori style and inside white.
Strictly, Millefiori is a glassware technique that produces distinctive decorative patterns in glassware. The term is a combination of the Italian words "Mille" (thousand) and "fiori" (Flores). Traditionally it is associated with the Venetian crystal store, of Murano. The technique implies the production of glass rods (Murrine) with multicolored matron that can be seen from the ends, that is where the flowers are located. These rods are heated in the oven and thin, to finally be cut into fine discs or accounts, which are inserted in the objects to be decorated. Over time, it has become recognized as a style in itself, as objects of this type can be traced from Roman times.
Therefore, in this lamp, the brand revitalizes and modernizes this millenary technique to achieve an absolutely modern result, tending towards the abstraction of floral forms. This is in absolute tune with the brand, then, during the 70s, the brand expressed the fascination of the time with futuristic and sculptural globular forms using materials such as highly polished metals and glass.

More about the brand \.
As the name implies, Peill & Putzler was a fusion of two prominent German glass manufacturers. After World War II, these two successful German manufacturers merged to become a single company. This is how Peill + Putzler merged and unified their respective experiences and skills in blowing and glass lighting. In 1947 the companies merged and went on to illuminate the reconstruction of the postwar period of Germany.
Peill und Sohn (Peill and son) was founded in 1903 in Düren (Germany). For their part, the Putzer brothers of Penzig (Pieńsk) had extensive experience in the production of oil flashlights for public lighting. Peill & Putzler Glashüttenwerke was rebuilt as a glass and lighting company; whose first glass melted in 1948. By 1950, the company had five glass ovens, adding two more in the 1970s and having 1,500 employees.
As of 1952, the importance granted to innovative design and intricate work meant that Peill & Putzler became one of the founding members of the German Design Council. It was quickly admired in architectural circles, mainly due to the high level of production, as well as their attention to detail.
When developing numerous new techniques that allowed inflating glass lighting accessories, Aloys F. Gangkofner was essential to bring these methods to industrial production. The art of making light had always been hindered by the inability to free itself from reliable, although somewhat rigid, manufacturing, but as a consequence of the innovative and experimental gangkofner approach with a good design in its nucleus, suddenly the lighting could become an art form in its own right.
In 1994, Peill & Putzler moved its glass factories to Slovenia, Poland and Chechnya. Although there was still a small number of lamps on the original site in Düren, the company was declared insolvent in 2004, although the factory closed its doors in 1997, which caused its stocks to be limited and increased its demand. The legacy that Peill + Putzler leaves, however, manifests itself in the world of interior design and today's style. Trusting their designers the freedom to put into practice a truly good design and craft and developing manufacturing techniques to make those designs, Peill & Putzler went from being somewhat overwhelmingly practical to an art form. The lamps do not even have to be lit to be admired.
