This Jackson Pollock "Black Enamel Paintings " rare vintage 1990 first edition lithograph print large Abstract Expressionist exhibition art book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The softcover art book with hard paperboard covers is published by The Gagosian Gallery New York, printed in 1990 in an unnumbered limited edition of 2000 by L.P. Thebault on the occasion of the exhibition, book designed by Dan Miller Design. It features a monograph exhibition survey of the artworks of the artist Jackson Pollock, with an essay by Ben Heller.
This elegant catalogue volume is published in conjunction with the 1990 exhibition of twenty-six paintings on canvas and works on paper by Jackson Pollock held at The Gagosian Gallery New York. This particular book is a personal gift from the famous gallery owner Larry Gagosian given to The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art / Spencer Art Reference Library, Kansas City Missouri.
Jackson Pollock ( 1912 - 1956 ) was an American painter and major figure in The Abstract Expressionist Movement. He is well known for his unique style of " Drip Painting ". The groundbreaking images he created, and the materials he worked with were both experimental, innovative and non traditional. During his life, Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety, he was a major artist of his generation. He had a volatile personality and struggled for most of his life. His marriage to artist Lee Krasner had an important influence on his career and legacy. The Museum of Modern Art New York has held four retrospective exhibitions of his artworks. Pollock is considered to be one of the most important artists of The Twentieth Century.
The rare out of print 1st edition large format exhibition art book measures 10 1/4" W X 12 7/8" H X 5/8" D, with 94 pages. It is printed on extra heavyweight premium paper stock, featuring 26 lithograph print and 8 duotone illustrations, with an exhibition catalogue artworks list.
It is in very good vintage condition consistent with age, use, and medium to moderate signs of handling and wear.
