Solomon " Sol " LeWitt ( 1928 - 2007 ) was an American artist of a Russian Jewish background, linked to various movements including Conceptual Art and Minimalism. LeWitt came to fame in the late 1960's with his " Wall Drawings " and " Structures " but was prolific in a wide range of mediums including drawing, printmaking, photography, painting, installation, and artist's books. Artworks by LeWitt have been the subject of hundreds of solo exhibitions in many of the most prestigious museums and galleries around the world since 1965.

The work of Sol LeWitt is brilliantly set forth in this comprehensive monograph that traces his career from 1962 to 1977. This definitive book is a work by LeWitt as as about him. He has designed this volume following his own modular principles and has selected the illustrations.
