Nippon (the Japanese see word for the country of Japan)tea set -porcelain made for the US market was stamped NIPPON -until 1921-when it was decided to change the name to Japan for imports -the Japanese we’re trained to copy the fine porcelains of Europe -today porcelain marked Nippon is collectible and highly sought after -there are some reproductions on the market -but it is not as well made and heavier than the original Nippon -(see the photo)-of the original mark and the new mark
This set is very fine porcelain-hand painted-trimmed in gold and very translucent under a light -which denotes fine porcelain
The bread/desert plates are 6.5” in diameter
The teacup saucers are 5.5” in diameter
The teacups are 2” high and 3.5” in diameter
The creamer is 3.5” tall and 4.5” wide from the spout to the handle less
