The backrail, the armrests start and ending, the front and back feet, the central crossing are all decorated with incredibly hand-carved figures, mainly faces and heads with as well other parts decorated with detailed carvings. Savonarola chair is a type of folding chair with an X frame when viewed from the front or back and the title Savonarola comes from the name of Italian Renaissance Dominican friar, Girolamo Savonarola, who is renowned for his clash with tyrannical rulers and corrupt clergy.
