This chair was made in very limited numbers in 1957 and is a very rare find. The design is brilliant and ingenious as the chair consists of two elements that are held together without any screws or hinges. The original cushions have been reupholstered in natural sheepskin. The chair is extensively documented in design litterature and the important Danish furniture magazine "Mobilia" had a big feature on the innovative chair in 1957 when the chair was introduced. Here the architect himself describes his chair: "My driving motive was to produce a chair that according to my opinion was constructed and dimensioned correctly - a seating arrangement with the sole purpose of providing relaxation in any reclining position without danger of tipping over. The chairs solid design is due to its construction and supporting principles. The lines are determined exclusively by the angles of the seat and back and by the attempt to give the chair a correct balance. All joints are purposely visible. There are no screws or hinges, this process is as far as I know unusual for dissembleable furniture. The chair is conceived as a contribution toward our times´ efforts in introducing simple furniture" (Preben Thorsen, architect m.a.a., "Mobilia" March, 1957). Wear consistent with age and use. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
