I typically get flowers for the house to have some natural color and a sense of nature.
The sunflower represents a feeling of love, happiness, vitality, energy, and good fortune. The flower in the wild tends to follow the sun’s movement, expressing loyalty and devotion. It holds the sun in reverence.
I have been inspired to paint Sunflowers I, II, and III because of the works of Vincent Van Gough in 1887. Not to try and do direct copies, I wanted to do paintings of a small series of my flowers from the ones I had purchased over a few months and create my versions in 2022. – Duke Windsor.
This is a one of a kind original acrylic and gold leaf still life painting by San Diego artist, Duke Windsor.
