plaster cast medallion plaques, depicting battles of Napoleon at war with Russia, after cast of Count Feodor Petrovich Tolstoy (1883-1873), signed and dated, 8" diameter. Provenance: Part of a series of medallions made by Count Tolstoy to commemorate the victory of Russian troops in the patriotic war against Napoleon, depicting ten victorious battles of war. The series was exhibited at the Royal Academy Exhibition from 1815-1816, cat. # 842. A pair of similar medallions can be found in the British Museum, London; also exhibited in the collection of the Pavlovsk Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia (summer residence of former Tzar) . less
