A stunning French 1928-1934 art deco chandelier by Hettier et Vincent in nickel plated bronze. The fixture holds six rare shades in clear molded-pressed glass representing birds. The shades are signed des Hanots. A model made by Holophane (verreries des Hanots and Verlys). Hettier & Vincent was a well-known French lighting company. With a high-quality finish of their lighting fixtures their chandeliers are now sought-after items. As wholesaler and retailer they made lamps for the high end of the market and had their shop on the prestigious and beautiful Place de Vosges in Paris.
The nickel-plated solid brass or bronze fixture is of excellent quality. Very fine detailed work as can be expected from Hettier & Vincent.
The chandelier has a drop of 80cm (31-1/2") and it's 57.5 cm wide (22,64"). It is in very good condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mounting and it is rewired with six American candelabra base sockets.
The six shades are in very good condition. Shades made by verreries des Hanots often show irregularities like very small hairlines due to the production process. The tiny Hanots signature on this model shade with birds is often vague or practically invisible.
