A scarce antique Flemish Dutch box, Baroque period, likely originally serving as a bible box or jewelry casket, circa 1700s, mounted on a later stand and fashioned as a side table.
Featuring a distinctive ebonized rosewood lift-top chest over single concealed drawer and decorated with contrasting bone string banding, striking red tortoiseshell and burled filets.
The rectangular shaped top with geometric and heart motif opens to reveal ample storage in a weathered interior. The top and bottom drawer adorned with simple keyhole escutcheons however lacks the original key (we will include a skeleton key to access the drawer). The heart motif continues on the corners leading to long straight square legs.
