These are well marked, the back of each is marked twice with a C in a diamond, it's the mark of Edward F Caldwell. These have a good amount of age on them, but I am not sure of the exact date of manufacture but 1900-1925 is most likely. Each measures approximately 27" h x 12" w x 5.25"d. They have a unique mix of stylistic details, they have a quality that feels evocative of some of the illustrations of Aubrey Beardsley. See less

Overall, they have moderate wear/ pleasant patina to the gold finish and metal (it is far brighter on the back). The wheat portions are bent out of place somewhat, but are fairly malleable. Please note that these wheat sections are casting pretty heavy shadows in some of the photos, there are 11 strands of the wheat on each sconce. Wheat portions are also a bit floppy, they move from side to side a bit, one has some clay or similar material packed between it and the body of the sconce, it was probably to fix this in place but it doesn't do that now. Sconce pictured at left: Has a crack and a bend at the finial at the bottom right under the scrolls (see detail). One of the screws adhering the cross bar/ hanging bar at back seems to have been replaced with some sort of fill in material or simply ground down smooth so the flat head channel for the screwdriver is no longer there. Sconce pictured at right: The arms of the sconce are bent back somewhat, towards the wall. The sconce pictured left has about 1.5" from the edge of the decorative portion underneath bobeche, the one at right about 0.5". This is a significant amount of bending but I am sure it could be remediated by a qualified professional! A dent on the thinner metal of the bobeche. I may have missed something here, but this is a good general accounting of condition! Please study the photos carefully and ask any questions. less
