The heaviness of the piece will reassure you that it is not going to blow away (should you not use it on the porch) in the first high wind. However, being that the moriage is delicate work, I’d use it on a patio.
The detail of the hand-painting is something out of this world, truly superior craftsmanship. Each tiny dot is perfectly placed, highly indicative of a much, much older piece when compared with some of the newer pieces in their attempts to look like old pieces you will note that the dots are simply not the same. Certainly not as profusely applied. Moriage is an extremely delicate form of decoration used on both Chinese and Japanese pottery pieces.
Truly is a piece that can be proudly passed down through generations.
