Hubens & Degué - corner wall sconces
A nice pair of authentic 1925-1930 French art deco corner wall lights in … more Hubens & Degué - corner wall sconces
A nice pair of authentic 1925-1930 French art deco corner wall lights in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by Francis Hubens holding two beautiful slip shades in frosted moulded-pressed glass by Degué. The company lead by David Guéron, founded in 1924. Guéron employed the ceramist and designer Edouard Cazaux as his artistic director and head designer. In 1936 production stopped and the company finally closed down in 1939. This model is represented in the old Degue catalog under #521. Both shades are signed Degué. Hubens was a Paris based (68 rue des Archives) company producing Art Deco lighting during the interbellum. In the 20s Hubens mainly used moulded-pressed shades produced by Degué, as can be seen in the old Hubens catalogs. The mounts are marked FH for Francis Hubens.
At the moment I have an identical pair Hubens sconces in the version of normal wall lights. See my other listings.
The sconces are about 25 cm high (9-27/32") and project some 25 cm from the wall. They are in very good condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the fixtures. The lamps come rewired with American candelabra base sockets.
