Karl Blossfeldt original photogravure from Urformen der Kunst (Art Forms in Nature) first published in Germany 1928. The prints for sale are from the second edition published in 1929 using the printing process of gravure; these are original vintage prints nearly 100 years old.
Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) was a German artist/photographer who devoted himself to the study of nature. He magnified his botanical subjects revealing extraordinary detail and the natural beauty and form of the various plants.
The images have a subtle tonal quality while having a very graphic simplicity. They are classic yet feel very modern, they look wonderful framed in a grouping.
