They are in exceptional antique condition considering age and household use. The solid wood ( elm, ash or fruitwood) chairs have plank seats with spindle splayed slant back and matching double stretcher. One chair has hand signed name under seat bottom. Appraiser suggested it was to identify the owner during over country transport by train or other mode of transport. The slant back makes for an enjoyable place to relax for sweet tea and tall tales with the neighbor folk.
